With Syrian conflicts constantly remaining in the headlines and the United Nations’ supposed condemnation of the country’s practices – I find myself criticizing the U.N. just as much as the country that lacks humanity.
The key purposes for the United Nations are to help with concerns between nations through negotiation before the countries’ governments, military and leaders resort to the use of military force. The United (or Useless) Nations has constantly managed to stand back and disapprove and mediate – rather than get down to the core issues and reach resolution.
The United Nations is largely a setting for debate. Long story short – the U.N. is a global society where countries send representatives to dispute. Most of the time, the representatives are powerless middlemen who are there to advise on their countries’ official stance. Nations governed by dictators and regimes naturally use these discussions to delay and complicate issues in their favor.
The United Nations is incapable of taking direct or liberated actions without support from its members. With Libya, Syria, Uganda and Iraq – all without resolution over the years of the U.N.’s patronage; it’s no surprise that the United Nations has never officially solved a crisis. Yes, perhaps they are trying to keep the peace; but what is peace when hundreds are being murdered by fascist regimes and the supposed helpers are just standing back and discussing?
