Steve Jobs : An Overrated Death

It’s a sad society we have. Millions Mourn the CEO behind a crappy phone and an over-priced laptop

He Did Not Invent Anything…that changed the world in any way.

I was in the beautiful city of Sydney today, and as I walked past the Apple store I see a crowd of people almost-religiously worshipping the ground, placing candles, cards, flowers and all sorts of random things at this makeshift shrine that overlooks the front of the nicely cleaned glass.

Then I spot a card saying “My life has no Meaning anymore”, really now? Because of the death of a company CEO? (Images below)

Steve Jobs never actually invented anything, and the media is constantly going on about his death, I spotted one article that even went on to clarify why he wore a black turtleneck. (Images below)

I just do not see how people compare him to Edison or even Bill Gates.

People keep saying he “invented” the iPhone or the iPad but In reality, his major contribution was just deciding what was to be released out of the development stage.

To compare him to Edison or Gates — who literally designed, built and sold their products — is ridiculous.

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb we know today, did we mourn his death as much as we did Jobs’?

The iPhone was not an invention, it was a design, a design of a piece of equipment that has existed for a few decades now and although people arrogantly dub it as the first Smartphone, the Palm Pilot from 1999 could store apps and be used as a micro computer as well as a phone, the iPhone is nothing but marketing genius aimed towards people who have no idea what “high-tech” really is.

Steve Jobs was probably one of the great achievers of our lifetime, but his legacy does not deserve such over-the-top media coverage. He did not invent the motorcar or even the Computer, or even the Personal Computer for day-to-day consumers.

We are living in times of war, economic crisis, hunger, poverty and sexual trafficking and slavery – so, to say that Jobs changed the world would be stupid. The folks at Apple released a mobile phone in a shiny case at ridiculous price, not a poverty-reducing-hunger-solving-war-ending machine.

you should perhaps check the facts: Jobs held over 300 patents listing him as lead inventor. Number of patents held by Bill Gates: 9.

  As a CEO, he had the power to inject his name on every patent submitted by any company employee.
  Wozniak did all the engineering of the first apple, Jobs was the marketer, a glorified salesman.

    Actually, Apple did not use the Z80. Wozniak states as much in his autobiography of his time at Apple. Also, it was not mentioned in Steve Jobs biography either.

  He didn’t invent anything.
  
  The same deal with Edison, he owned the company so he got credit for inventions by his employees. Edison only had 1 invention and it was NOT the lightbulb.
  
  The same goes with Samsung, Sony, Toshiba….etc….. The company who funded the research and development get credit for inventions, not the employee who actually did. He who pays the bills gets the glory.

Guys he invented a way to use technology to be more friendly for day to day customers…..everything before Mac have personnel computer he made a way for common person to understand how it works and use it for their day to day life….which windows copied and made it for masses..rest is story….
there was palm and RIM(Black Berry) before Iphone…..but people consider it has re-invention of phone because its the Phone where everyone can understand and use it…..He is an example of A Technologist with common senses and great mass appeal…..

Ugh, I like the guy and he did dress eccentric and spoke well, no doubt a very interesting character but GOOD GOD MAN! This is getting ridiculous, he was a bit of a Nazi barking orders and talking all kinds of crazy talk like some sort of hippy maniac, who he really is and his public image are two separate things. If Wozniak died would he get the same reaction? Do most people even know who Woz is? Imagine all the people involved in making the iPhone, iPod, etc, I don’t know any one of their names, Steve was an attention hog and loved it and listening to him speak about iDevices is like listening to Obama describe how the sky will part and a beam of light will hit the listener with an epiphany. Just watched a Youtube video of this ditsy blonde crying about Steve (her only focus is gaining hits using his death) and it dawns on you… WOW…. People are insane! My step-dad is a perfect example of a Mac-head, years ago it was Bill Gates, all day, Bill Gates this, Bill Gates that, now its Steve, Steve, Steve…! DAH! “Hey, did you see the new key-note?!”, “No, I have a life to tend to lol! You crazy dingleberry, its just a bunch of upgraded crap that should have came out LAST YEAR the first time around….”, design one device and remodel it each year just a little bit different, c’mon now. Oddly enough Im certain he uses his Mac for nothing more than porn and…. Well, porn. He will buy every iPhone, iPod, AppleTV the day they come out and carry it around like a child at school for all to see, he has NO IDEA how to use any of it, I jailbreak everything for him and for no reason, he doesn’t use ANY apps for anything. Now its his biography, Im starting to suspect he’s a flippin’ loon! Steve was just a little bit less of a nerd in a world of awkward super-nerds, he knew how to speak biblically and his fellow nerds loved it. He’s like the pop-star of the tech world, tall, well spoken, dressed a bit weird (which Im sure was for effect, probably read somewhere that Einstein had a wardrobe full of identical clothes), these days its all about image. When I think of genius I think of Tesla, etc. If Steve is in heaven right now with all the true geniuses of the past I doubt he’d have much to say, “My Life Has No Meaning” lol! Smh, what about your damned kids?!? Your wife? Did Steve even know you existed? They’re all crazy!

I agree. People who overreacted when he died don’t know the first thing about Steve Jobs. I didn’t see people giving the same credit to actual innovators and pioneers of technology when they died, like Dennis Ritchie and John McCarthy.

Apple products are overrated and overpriced. Under the hood, it’s mostly PC parts. How could someone even think of using the mouse with only one button. That is the stupidest idea. Really what was the strategy on a one button mouse. Today’s practical mouse is at least 3 buttons where one can scroll pages. Macbook Air, it wasn’t a brilliant concept. It’s just SSD’s enable a thinner notebook build, in addition, heavy disk usage, with SSD’s are unreliable. The only hard drive that ever failed on me was the cheapest brand named “Maxtor”.

      You are missing the entire point of this article. Steve Jobs, fine he was an innovator, but he did not invent something. He told people the idea and the idea was pulled out by thousands of people over years of difficult work. Oh…and your ‘stats’ are incorrect…PC dominates the market without a doubt.

Jobs and Edison have a lot in common, both were great salesmen who brought smart people together to work for them and do the creating. Edison and Jobs both got credit
for creating the things the employees of their companies did.
