South Africa Announces First Successful Penis Transplant


A South African university has announced that the first penis transplant has been successful with the receiver able to have full use of his new sexual organ. In December 2014, the penis transplant was performed on a 21-year-old man at the University of Stellenbosch. The surgery lasted nine hours and involved complicated microsurgery to connect blood vessels and nerves. The [alleged] creator of Silk Road, an online website found on the dark web, has been convicted and could face a lengthy jail sentence. Ross Ulbricht, aged 30, was shown to have amassed a fortune of $18 million from the underground internet site which provided a platform for more than one million drug deals in nearly three years. Qatar Airways Buys Stake of British Airways and Iberia Parent Company


Qatar Airways has bought approximately 10% of the parent company of British Airways and Spain’s Iberia. The Qatari government-backed airline said the decision to buy into International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) was part of a determination to improve its operations and reinforce their commercial commitment with the Europe. Qatar Airways said it may consider increasing its stake further down the road. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.

A pair of F-16 fighter jets has escorted two US commercial airliners to their landing in Atlanta following an online bomb threat. Twitter user @kingZortic sent out tweets to Delta and Southwest airlines suggesting he had smuggled explosives onto flights and threatened to detonate them. Two flights were then grounded at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta before the FBI and specialist officers raided the planes. The bomb threat turned out to be counterfeit with the Twitter user confirming it was not actually true. The users’ Twitter account was later suspended.

Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo, a suborbital passenger spaceship has crashed after reportedly trialling a new fuel. A witness has told authorities that it exploded soon after it detached from a mother ship after leaving the Mojave Air and Space Port on Friday. "The Antares rocket suffered an accident shortly after lift-off," NASA mission control in Houston has confirmed, describing the issue as a "catastrophic anomaly". The unmanned Antares rocket exploded moments after lift-off from the commercial launch pad in Virginia, marking the very first mishap since NASA turned to private operators to deliver cargo to the International Space Station.
