According to several people on the scene the attackers used machetes and  cut the victims head off. Woolwich street by two men who were later shot by law enforcement and airlifted to hospital.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who was planning to stay in Paris overnight after meeting the French president, will return to the UK following the attack.

According to various witnesses those carrying out the attack were heard to be yelling Allahu Akbar.

London Mayor Boris Johnson has described the attack as a “sickening deluded and unforgivable act of violence”.

Australian Greens senator Scott Ludlam claims that the federal government has now revived internet censorship concerns with evidence that its agencies are using powers to block Australian users from accessing websites more widely than first thought.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) confirms that it has asked internet service providers (ISPs), including Telstra, to block access to two websites believed to be part of a share trading scam in late March. However, in the course of blocking the scammer sites; 1200 genuinely unrelated websites sharing the same web host or server were also blocked.

The Australian Federal Police has used rules under the Telecommunications Act of 1997 to prevent users from accessing specific websites in the past. This includes enforcing ISPs to do what is “reasonably necessary” to foil users attempts to break the law using communication systems such as the World Wide Web.

ASIC said it had begun sending notices to ISPs requesting blocked access to websites over the past nine months as part of its law enforcement capabilities.

Scott Ludlam has stated on record that: “It’s extraordinarily difficult to find who has issued these notices and on behalf of whom, for what categories of content, or what you do if you find yourself on a block list. We’ve got a very serious problem and it’s not at all clear whether the government knows what it’s actually doing,”

Budget documents released during the second week of May revealed that dumping Stephen Conroy’s exhaustive attempt to mandatorily filter the internet will save the government $4.5 million.

According to a regulatory chief, provider iiNet had previously complied with notices sent by the AFP to take down web sites that contained information regarding terrorism, bomb-making, Anarchist Cookbook and other “illegal” materials.

This concern follows ASIC’s pledge to alter privacy laws to allow data retention, phone call snooping and various other mandatory requests.

This article is bound to cause an uncomfortable feeling amongst some and garner criticism over its depictions of a way out of life. However, I first want to highlight that there are many reasons why written works like this should exist. If you take this information in as a guide, then we cannot recommend or encourage that you take your own life. This was written for the curious, the researching and those who wish to understand how the human body can in-fact have an ‘off switch’.

There are multiple ways to kill yourself, but they don’t always factor in the character and feelings of the person carrying them out. This is why I have put some prominence on the scrutiny and consideration of ending one’s life.

I think it is very important that the person is taken into consideration, because all plans can be disrupted by a doubt, fear, indecision, or self-deception of one’s true feelings and desires.

First: Why do people want to take their lives, even if they are quite ‘normally’ surviving?

To answer this question we must dive into the scenarios of human thought and justification. Suicidal thoughts are often linked to depression and a loss of the will to live – and yes, that’s almost always the major factor – but there are plenty of reasons one may wish to put an end to their life. Suicidal emotions are prevalent when one:

•  Is sick and dying and wants a stress-free way out that doesn’t involve mobility.
•  Is depressed and can’t find the motivation to go the distances required for their situation.
•  Is disgusted with life and wants a way out that isn’t too painful, messy or likely to fail.
•  Wants to die for any of the listed reasons and is afraid of being discovered, seen as a coward, or judged as malevolent by those the person admires.
•  Wants to go out fashionably, making a strong statement against enemies and detractors (such as bullies or ex-boyfriends/girlfriends or those who requested the person to ‘prove’ they were really suicidal)
•  Wants revenge on society or group or a person, using suicide as the means of achieving their revenge
•  Wants to perplex their loved ones or enemies by knowing that their exit from the world will shock and confuse.
•  Feels as though there is more to life and that, in their death, they will enter another realm based on their spiritual beliefs

Suicide is always related to the fear of something. Whether the person is afraid of their existence, their depression, their inability to succeed, their inability to control their own body or the fear that they will be a burden on those they love.

The Empowerment of Accepting Death

We can be caught between knowing that we want to die and taking steps to accomplish it and really just wanting life to be different and trying to find some way to escape or hide from it. Attempting suicide can be a way of shuffling the deck. No matter how much we may decry the control exercised over us once we’ve failed an attempt, we are the ones who got us there. It is a means of changing the life we are leading (abandoning control, which a lot of us want to do but for which are afraid of the repercussions). This is in part why some people commit crimes — to return to a controlled environment where they cannot have to face the stress of decision-making.

Knowing that we can at any point terminate our lives can be a powerful incentive. Ok, now I can do anything. If the heat gets too much, I can exit and I don’t have to worry about the conditions I’ve created for myself. To many this is considered as the easy way out, the weak and selfish way out or the lazy way out. Is it selfish to say goodbye to your family, acknowledge the good times and bow out?

Preparing for the end

When one is dedicated to the task, suicide will not be difficult to achieve at all. the major problem is internal, not external. Some degree of self-analysis, preparation for death, the reaction one will not witness but apparently cause, etc., is important since we are conditioned to regulate our behaviour based on imagining the reaction others will feel in response to our choices.

Other than deciding on the method of self-termination, the practical preparation for suicide includes accepting one’s demise, how it will be effected, and one’s role in the social world prior to that event.

Deciding (or leaving undecided) the metaphysical issues inherent to the notion of suicide (such as how the cosmos may be structured, whether there are moral authorities who have forbidden the taking of your life, what happens to people when they die, whether it matters if someone has killed themselves as to the quality of any post-mortem experiences, etc.) is an important part of accepting the idea of effecting one’s own death.

Contemplating the likely responses to the type of suicide one has planned and the future development of the society in which one lives (i.e. how family and friends will react to the news of your choice to end your life, what, if any, repercussions, there may be to the message your death may symbolize, etc.) is essential in the construction of a satisfactory suicide method and context.

The ultimate ‘intelligence’ or ‘unexpectedness’ with suicide is perhaps the most shocking and well-thought-out elements of suicide. This may include lying to one’s friends and family (so as to avoid being bereft of autonomy and freedom in a misguided attempt to provide ‘help’), the resolution of administrative details (like arranging for payment of regular bills and any funerary expenses that will likely be incurred by your survivors, etc.), or a fierce and fiery ‘Shooting Star’ termination in which a huge mess is left to those whom you despise or have learned to disregard, knowing how to approach the world will put those destined for death one step ahead of those who may wish to see that a self-termination fails.

Fear of pain is an important reason to hesitate when contemplating self-termination. We want to terminate the pain we may be feeling (often psychological).

Many subjects who have survived suicide have stated that during what they believed were there final moments, they began to reconsider their situation.

For example; a man who had leapt from a bridge told that he began to feel a sudden tranquillity and type of rebirth during his descent. He survived the suicide and his mindset had changed. Likewise, many people who travel to Zurich to receive legal euthanasia have reportedly realised that, through expanding their horizons and discovering an all new ‘world’, they decide that they would start life anew.

We’ve gone through why – so HOW do people do it?

Asides from the obvious jump-off-bridge or pull-gun-trigger-at-head methods; there are several curiosities surrounding those who are trying to find methods on dealing with their own death. It wouldn’t be too farfetched to suggest that many seek ways to die in the same way that many seek ways on curing and surviving.

POSING A FAKE RISK TO GET SHOT

Some try to force police officers to kill them by buying a cheap toy gun that looks real enough from a distance. Get stopped by a police officer and, from a distance, get emotional and pull the weapon. Refuse to put it down when they command it. Take a firing stance and aim the toy. Best to obscure your body except for your head when beginning the escapade. The important thing is though – you will not only lose your own life, but you may very well traumatise the officers, civilians and families surrounding the incident.

ASPHYXIATION AND THE ‘EXIT BAG’

Asphyxiation has been the subject of many ‘natural’ suicides. The Hemlock Society (which supports the right of the terminally-ill to die) says that the rubber band method may cause discomfort and the suggestion of the ‘exit bag’ (pictured) is often given.

In 1990 German Factory worker Peter Ditert (Google Books has an archive of the newspaper which mentions him briefly here) had multiple failed attempts to take his life. Some may even argue that ‘fate’ was on his side: his gun barrel jammed, he consumed multiple poisons and hazardous substances and he survived a couple of intentional car-related incidents too. I was unable to find any information on whether or not Peter Ditert was still alive or if he had finally achieved his death.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, a 46 year old tried to kill himself 7 times after his wife left him. He even gassed his entire house and lit a match after the monoxide poisoning didn’t happen soon enough. He was rescued and later reported to be on good terms with his estranged wife.

The use of chemicals such as propane is commonly brought up as slightly nauseating to the respiratory tract and may only cause non-life-threatening effects. Common symptoms whilst trying to suffocate with propane include dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and nausea, muscular incoordination, disproportionate salivation, incomprehension, vomiting, and even extreme excitation. In punishing cases, seizures or loss-of-conscience may occur.

Many common Liquid Petroleum gas (LPG) stoves have a regulation feature inbuilt that prevents the gas valve to open unless the pilot light is lit. Most homes and stoves are fitted with this type of safety. Propane freezes when it is allowed to escape quickly – so, ironically, you would be burned by cold temperatures. The gas regulator features allow propane to escape slowly enough under pressure so that the jet doesn’t ice up.

AIR INJECTION

Arterial Gas Embolism (known technically as “AGE”) embraces the idea that injecting air into the veins can cause an air bubble to facilitate a heart issue (likely, a heart attack) and kill you without the coroner being ever-the-wiser but this is somewhat of a myth. Small air bubbles injected into the vein cannot cause death. A large syringe would be required to give yourself a lethal dose of air. Surviving this suicide attempt could give render you brain-dead, which is arguably worse than dying.

Injecting a large dose of air into the body involves the air pocket travelling through the bloodstream and into the brain. Seeing as our brains are not meant to contain air, this initiates a stroke. Not all strokes kill.

KNOWN METHODS OF SUICIDE:

Some (most) of these are self-explanatory.

Bleeding/Wrist Slitting

The rapid loss of blood (or Exsanguination) is an uncommon cause of death. Though publicised by many cultural references as a major solution to death, the mortality rate of those who have self-harmed with the intention of suicide is quite low.

Drowning

(Often seen as technically an asphyxiation)

Suffocation

Hypothermia

Electrocution

Self-defenestration (jumping from height, but specifically, from a window)

Firearms

Hanging

Vehicular impact

Simply jumping in front of a vehicle, train, bus, and lorry. Suicide by aircraft is the least common due to the difficulties of gaining access to the front of a taxiing plane or jumping from a plane. It should be noted that whilst hijacking and crashing a plane is the act of suicide, it is not regularly seen as an occurrence for suicide, contradictory to the ideology of kamikaze and suicide hijacking. Despite this, there have been instances where pilots have intentionally crashed the aircraft due to depression or the loss of will to live – however, this is perhaps recognised as murder or terrorism due to the multiple deaths that occur. This, of course, isn’t the case when it comes to a solo pilot intentionally crashing an aircraft or a group of willing suicidal passengers choosing to take part in a group mortality.

Immolation

A reasonably useless method; Immolation (or in psychological terms – Self-Immolation) is the intentional basking in flames. This is usually survivable and bares the risk of rescue. Surviving self-immolation would incur drastic recovery and emotional scarring (not to mention the obvious physical scarring). Death by self-immolation is often used as a means of ‘peaceful’ and mind-strengthened protest rather than suicide.

Jumping into a volcano or enduring molten lava is also defined as self-immolation.

IN CLOSING:

Ultimately though, I want to remind you all that this should not be taken as a literal guide to suicide.

The order to remove the template files for the plastic gun comes after they were downloaded more than 100,000 times. They were being hosted on MEGA.

The US State Department wrote to the gun’s designer, Defense Distributed, suggesting publishing them online may breach arms-control regulations.

First let me explain my criticisms for the way Child Pornography (CP) is dealt with by the worlds’ top governments. For starters; CP is not illegal within the entire world. It may come as a surprise but accessing, owning or distributing the content is still a legitimate trade in some parts of Asia and so therefore if something is hosted within a country that has no strict policy against it – then it cannot be removed by a foreign government.

For a good 3 years I suggested that through using the deep web we could illegally bring down the content and yet never be traced back to our failure to obtain warrants and so on – this plot was never accepted and my ideas were constantly ignored.

The government buildings that house evidence in the UK have large data centres all storing child pornography for the purposes of substantiation and investigations (such as attempts to trace the pictures of the children involved).

Many of these files are low quality images with either faces blurred out or the suggestion of being old and inconveniently useless for gaining a conviction.

The amount of content that is clearly distributed by abusers is tear-jerking.

Child pornography is like war in the way that you cannot simply bring an end to it. CP was not born on the web and so simply persevering at closing CP websites will not help. It certainly isn’t as simple as ‘shutting the provider down’ either. The website owners cannot be traced, the location of the content cannot be revealed and the details are entirely hidden from anyone hoping to gain a conviction or bring an abuser to justice.

Admittedly, my previous post hinting on the ‘real-life gladiator’ fights that are organised through the deep web was probably the discovery of an exaggerated firm, but there’s no way of verifying whether or not these things exist without attempting to join yourself – oh and a shout-out to Eiley for her story about this here.

Whether you believe me or not – I worked on behalf of the investigations unit in the UK and after an 11 month inquiry; we found no conclusive evidence that this is happening in the UK and we have closely worked with international researchers who, too, have yet to verify the details. (To clarify – I am now a retired investigator working in a completely different field outside of law)

The deep web is full of interesting surprises, with the claim that one can even have somebody killed using online contact (see gallery), but there’s no irrefutable proof that this industry exists online. One can be sure, however, that child pornography and animal abuse can be found quite ‘easily’ when you’re looking for it.

Once again, the conventional media is tarnishing Euthanasia advocate Dr Philip Nitschke as the ‘advocator of death’ with Nitschke under investigation for assisting people with voluntary suicide.

Dr Nitschke’s latest invention is a nitrogen gas suicide system, which he specifies is a harm-minimisation device.
He is currently the object at the centre of complaint by the anti-euthanasia group HOPE.

Dr Nitschke currently distributes nitrogen cylinders that can be used for home beer brewing, ending one’s life and “a hundred other uses”, through Adelaide-based business Max Dog Brewing.

He says using nitrogen to squeeze oxygen out of the body, leading to hypoxic death, is the best lawful way of suicide.

With the label ‘Dr. Death’, there’s no denying that Philip Nitschke has forced many people onto their high horses over the argument that we, as human beings with free thought, don’t in fact have the right to choose whether or not we want to continue living.

Whilst prolife campaigners will vex me for saying it – it’s my choice to do whatever I want to and if I choose to end my life due to illness then what say should you have?

The investigation into sex abuse allegations against Rolf Harris will now expand to his homeland, Australia, with detectives from Scotland Yard making the trip to New South Wales to interview a woman who supposedly has no allegations against Harris.

Officers from London spent two hours in the home of a mother, aged 43, with two children in Wisemans Ferry.

It’s important to recognise that Rolf Harris has not been charged. He denies any wrongdoing and has expressed his anger over the investigation. Rolf’s wife of over 50 years, Alwen, has stated that they are both distraught over the accusations.

According to our unverifiable source who provided us with the first details regarding the allegations; Rolf is being questioned as part of a division which does not link any of the alleged with Jimmy Savile.

Medical personnel have been dispatched to Guantanamo Bay to assist with the force-feeding of inmates who have been refusing food on the grounds of alleged mishandling of their religious texts by guards and their overall detainment without trial.

100 of the 166 held in Guantanamo by the United States are currently on hunger-strike.

In the light of such coverage, Barack Obama has vowed to close Guantanamo bay but it should be noted that he has claimed the closure is his intention long ago to no avail.

President Obama defended the military actions: "I don’t want these individuals to die", he said.

But are the US right to prevent the prisoners from refusing food?

Technically hunger-striking is a suicide attempt, and therefore Barack Obama has defended the choice to force-feed detainees as a measure to prevent prisoners from killing themselves.

The UN Commission for Human Rights has criticized the use of force-feeding detainees claiming that it is “ethically and legally unjustifiable” as well as degrading to the recipient, who is in full possession of their senses.

Force-feeding is commonly done by inserting long tubes through the nostrils.

I’m all for human rights, equality and respect towards all genders but one thing that I see as a grey area is the feminist movement.

Now, I’m not talking about females who don’t want to be seen as an accessory to man – I’m talking about the far-left fundamentalist beliefs that some females possess.

The age-old remark many feminists have is that when a man holds the door open for a lady or pays for the meal he is signifying that the woman is incapable. This is a ridiculous belief that really shows the nit-pitting that people do to claim victim.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe that the Sharia law is an abomination to how some men can oppress women. I think females shouldn’t be given shortened tennis sessions and I think that we shouldn’t assume that they are too delicate for sports such as rugby. Female derby teams – appropriately known as Derby Girls – are enough proof that a woman can kick a men’s ass.

One of the most intricately insane things I’ve ever heard come from a feminist is that if a woman regrets sleeping with a man after she makes the decision to, then it is rape. Simply changing one’s mind apparently constitutes a criminal offence. (I’ll note here that a fellow anti-feminist female has done a brilliant story covering this sort of thing here)

Excessive female rights campaigners often criticise or claim the following:

Cleaning products are only marketed to women on TV.
Men do not ever express issues in the balance of raising children and a career simultaneously.
Situation comedies such as The Drew Carey Show, Family Guy, The Simpsons and so on are disrespectful as they contain obese ‘slobs’ with attractive partners.
Men who describe the weaker amongst them as “pussies” are disrespectful and that the use of the term ‘the balls’ (as in, I have balls for writing this) shouldn’t be used.

With violence, genital mutation and inequality in mind; I think it is very important we acknowledge that females are not the only victims. The western world sees a lot of men put through unwanted genital mutilation (think of circumcision for instance) as well as violence within a relationship. If a woman hits a man it seems to be accepted as normal, but if a man fights back then he is forever crucified for being a “woman beater”. In the end, is that not contradictory of what true equality is? Or would you argue that the female species is weaker than any male? That, too, is a contradiction.

One of the many online bloggers and authors that I despise (trust me, there’s a lot of them) would be Kotaku’s Patricia Hernandez who has gone from criticising the light-hearted talk of “bro! I totally raped you in that game!” and claiming that someone who uses the term is just as bad as someone who actually rapes as well as the fact that people who dress provocatively are treated like meat, that Sony’s Playstation 4 announcement didn’t feature any or enough females and that despite the historical accuracy, it was shameful that 1998’s “Saving Private Ryan” did not show women in the battlefield. Right-oh!

Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have both been the two young men at the centre of unprecedented attention by the mainstream media. At the age of 19, Dzhokhar is in hospital with severe neck wounds that have caused him to find great difficulty in speaking. His older brother Tamerlan was purportedly ‘heavily wounded’ when he was rushed to a hospital – he died as a result of his injuries. Many have stated he was shot dead at the scene, which, by technicality, is probably accurate as well.

A criticism that has been amongst many onlookers is how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev could have exited the boat in which he was hiding with such gruesome wounds. Did he harm himself, or was he ‘interrogated’ after his arrest?

According to Boston detectives, Dzhokhar (the survivor) has been answering police questions by writing. The FBI has been energetically searching for the two brothers’ links to other terrorists by scrutinizing Tsarnaevs’ contacts.

Being racially Chechens, the brothers spent very little time in their hometown in Caucasus but the brothers immigrated to the US to receive a refugee status. The Tsarnaevs left their residence in the country of Kyrgyzstan in 2001.

The Tsarnaev’s parents – who also lived in the US for many years – currently reside in Dagestan (a federal subject of Russia). The country’s population is composed of over 80% Islamists.

Father Anzor Tsarnaev said: "Chechens are stereotypically not welcome in so many places. We hoped the US will be the place to leave peacefully and free from judgment.”

He alleges his children have been framed.

Whilst initially, Anzor Tsarnaev was very willing to answer some questions via email, he later refused to discuss any information – most likely due to fears that we would twist his words.

The brothers names apparently don’t ring any bells in their local (or any other) mosque, despite the claims that they may have been militantly radical Islamists.

Tamerlan (the brother who was killed) married in the US. The two fathered a little girl. Both his wife Katherine and their daughter are in hiding due to the speculations that have arisen since his death.

The allegations against Dr. Gosnell include that he killed living babies and endangered the mothers. The important use of the term ‘babies’ in the Grand Jury’s report should be noted as not only did he abort foetuses, he allegedly delivered living and liveable babies and severed their spinal cords with scissors.

The medical practice’s allegations include overdosing patients with hazardous drugs, spreading venereal infections among them with septic instruments as well as the claims that Gosnell perforated the wombs and bowels of female patients. The allegations extend to say that he caused the death of two women.

The media have been accused of ‘ignoring’ the story over finger pointing that it may persuade differences in opinion by Pro-Choice/Pro-Life activists.

The peril here is not one of supporting abortion, but of encouraging abortions to be performed in professional environments – and not by budget back-street doctors.

According to court papers, Gosnell’s clinic was evidenced as having a distinctly strong odour of animal urine as well as the claim that cats were allowed full-run of the clinic.

The emergency exit was padlocked shut.

With the suggestion that furniture and blankets were stained with blood comes the evidence that instruments found in Gosnell’s clinic were not properly sanitized. Disposable medical supplies were not disposed of and were reused several times.

Foetal remains were discovered in cabinets, jars, bags, plastic jugs and in the freezer.

Two of Dr. Gosnell’s employees had been to medical school, but neither of them were licensed physicians.

The gruesome details state that Gosnell would place a pair of scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cut the spinal cord.

A Californian business known as Ntrepid has been bestowed a contract with United States Central Command (Centcom), which oversees US operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, to advance what is described as "online persona management service" that will allow one user to control the identity of 10 individuals on the net – 10 non-existent individuals that is.

False online personalities are known to users of social media and Wikis as "sock puppets".

The Centcom agreement requires that each false online persona must have an undoubted background, history and supporting details, and that up to 50 US-based controllers should be able to operate false identities from their computer terminals "without fear of being discovered by sophisticated adversaries".

There is the concern that the use of such botting software will allow the US military to create a false consensus online and suppress criticisms against the country.

Centcom spokesman Bill Speaks has responded to the criticism that: "The technology supports classified blogging activities on foreign-language websites to enable Centcom to counter violent extremist and enemy propaganda outside the US."

He said none of the interventions would be in English, as it would be dishonest to "address US audiences" with such technology. Right.

Most countries deem the use of such technology and methods as a crime of “impersonation”. Ntrepid have allegedly been awarded around $3 million USD for the project.

At least three people have been killed and up to 60 people have been injured after two explosions went off near the finish line of the famous Boston Marathon.

A no-fly zone has been implemented.

Boston police have confirmed two dead. However, there are no suspects in custody according to Boston authorities as some major news outlets previously suggested.

Google have launched an online person finder for those with apprehensions or information about friends and family in Boston.

Speculation over the motives of the attack are obviously mounting but no details are known.

Earlier this month, Torrentfreak reported that the fantasy action series “Game of Thrones” was the most pirated television program. This triggered a rather welcoming response from HBO’s programming president Michael Lombardo who considered the statistics as a compliment, especially as Game of Thrones was the network’s best-selling DVD season release of 2012.

“The demand is there. And it certainly didn’t negatively impact the DVD sales. [People downloading is] something that comes along with having a wildly successful show on a subscription network.”

Now it would seem that the monopolists in the USA have expanded their missions past the UK to the European Union with the threats that Spain – who have been rather apathetic on copyright infringement – would be added to their trade block list.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Boycott the industries that waste their money on abusing the political system to maintain their ridiculous profits and support the industries that support piracy and understand the true benefits of it and support the artists that don’t push the excess of anti-piracy messages.

In developing allegations, Rolf Harris has been arrested by Scotland Yard detectives in London on suspicion of sexual offences.

He was detained by investigators involved in Operation Yewtree – which is investigating the Jimmy Savile child sex abuse scandal.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said he was bailed to a date in May, pending further inquiries.

It is believed the arrest of the 82-year-old is not unswervingly related to Savile’s acts but other suspected sexual offences that had come to light during the overall investigation.

Whilst we cannot exactly verify the claims, about 20 people have emailed us claiming that Rolf Harris, who was previously investigated in relation to the allegations in November 2012, has been linked to Jimmy Savile’s past as a ‘supporting acquaintance’, meaning that if Rolf Harris DID NOT personally commit any sexual offences then he may have been reprimanded for knowing of Savile’s actions and failing to notify proper authorities. For example, he didn’t want to get Jimmy Savile into trouble or was in disbelief himself. Again, we aren’t claiming this as fact right now.

The mainstream media has been very quiet on the subject – especially in Australia due to the regulations of speculation and allegations.

As we sift through the daily papers and figure that all the world’s mainstream media are suddenly either Catholic or fascinated about reporting the Vatican’s new series “Pope X-Factor” (no, not really, but it’s a good idea) – one thing stands out the most. Black smoke = no pope.

Whilst the entire population of Pope Loyalists focus on these ‘important’ times, I’ve been focusing on the irritating truth that the Catholic Church has always possessed gold, riches and the supposed authority to act on behalf of some form of higher being.

I do not care for the Catholic Church, or religion at all, but wouldn’t it be nice to see a black pope? And furthermore, in these ‘important times, how about a female? Or better yet; a homosexual female?

Oh right. That’s not how many religious institutions work is it?

No, instead today we find Pope Francis is perhaps the perfect choice for a new pope. He opposes abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, same-sex adoption and he’s heavily vocal against safe-sex and contraception. Typical.

Whilst the last 24 months or so has been rather turmoil with the all-too-common allegations of sexual misconduct within the church and the whole Vatileaks Scandal – where Pope Benedict’s personal butler Paolo Gabriele allegedly leaked information exposing the corruption and lack of transparency in the Vatican as well as money laundering, blackmailing and bribery.

Last year, Pope Benedict XVI was paid about $200 million of ‘uncounted’ money – the Vatican, which is its own independent state, sets aside this type of money for their elite members – who they deem as “chosen by God” to maintain authority over the Vatican, the Catholics and the finances governed by the ‘religion’.

Where are my sources? Well…that’s difficult isn’t it? I have to rely on these supposedly “criminal” leaks that can cause a worldwide condemnation from the Vatican against my opinions.

All the profits from the Institute of the Works of Religion (IOR) are given to the pope as part of his private income. According to veteran journalist, Sandro Magister, these earnings amount to over 70 million euros every year; all handed down to the pope for his amazing works of charity.

Groups and organisations of Papal Foundations and Catholic institutes give an unstipulated gift annually “to support and help [the Pope] with his requested programs and missions throughout the world.”
This isn’t to say that the Pope has not used his annual income for good – but the publicised $10,000,000 donations handed to various – and mostly catholic – institutions are certainly no match for the priceless artefacts and gold hanging around the Vatican.

The pope is a man who shares his prayers for those who are affected by poverty, all while holding a cross made of solid gold and sitting in a throne within a practically priceless temple. In 2011 the pope claimed that Christmas has become to commercial and criticised those who use "gold glitter" (tinsel).

His girlfriend walked out and returned to the couple’s home in Coburg.

The court heard Bayley returned to the laneway at 4.22am and put Ms Meagher’s body into the boot of the car.

He drove to Blackhill Rd, Gisborne South, where he buried Ms Meagher by the side of the road.

Bayley was driving home from Gisborne when his car ran out of petrol near the Calder Highway.

He managed to wave down driver Dayle Watkins, who drove him to a nearby service station. Bayley (at about 6am) filled a jerry can with petrol and Mr Watkins then drove him back to his vehicle.

The highly anticipated release of PC game SimCity has been met with unanimous condemnation over its anti-piracy measures. The game requires players to be connected to the internet to play the game and if that’s not enough of a deterrent, if the servers are full or undergoing maintenance then you’re shit out of luck.

SimCity, the first release of the archetypal city-building simulator in 10 years, has now been made ‘unavailable’ through online retailing giant Amazon.com

Players are finding that the servers are being overloaded and therefore aren’t saving their game progress. Anyone who genuinely purchased the game is confronted with the irritation that the town they have spent hours on building will have to be reverted to their last save (whenever they saved when the server worked) or they’ll have to trash the whole thing. Bad experiences like that usually put people off using the product at all.

According to obtained documents (PDF here) from the U.S. Army Medical Command, the US government detained a Guantanamo prisoner who attempted suicide twice while imprisoned at the detention facility. According to the partially-supressed document, Mr. Hajji Nassim, suffered from what could be diagnosed as schizophrenia (auditory hallucinations).

Nassim, who was apparently known as Inayatullah at Guantanamo, eventually managed to take his life during imprisonment. He was one of the last prisoners to be detained at Guantanamo.

Reports outline that in March of 2009, Hajji Nassim had cuts on both sides of his neck. A month later, he slashed both of his arms.

He blamed the latter suicide attempt on “jinn” which is Arabic for “demons”.

Nassim spent a year at the prison’s behavioural wellbeing division. On release he was prescribed a nightly does of Risperdal, a common antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia and psychotic thoughts.

US officials insisted his detention was necessary as they saw him as a prominent al-Qaeda figure.

According to statistics, he was the 8^th prisoner to die at Guantanamo Bay.

An update on this story:

A Czech court has acquitted the lead vocalist, Randy Blythe, of Lamb of God on charges that he caused the death of a fan.

The hearing had accused Blythe, 42, of causing the death of the 19-year old fan by pushing him off the stage at a 2010 concert. The Czech media purportedly portrayed Randy Blythe as the member of a ‘dark’ band and suggested that his defence – pushing a fan back who leaped at him towards the stage – was an aggressive manslaughter.

Blythe had always claimed he would not hideout under Western protection and would  “go back [to the Czech Republic] and face this charge”

Randy Blythe posted the following statement regarding the exoneration: 

"I have been found not guilty & acquitted of all charges against me. I am a free man. Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts & prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace.

At that time, we acquired the court footage and uploaded it to YouTube for those interested in watching the parole hearing – where Manson – in his typical fashion, did not appear.

Since then, there has been plenty of debate and, as of writing this story, 926 comments arguing that Manson should or should not be seen as a murderer.

The simple reason to suggest that Manson did not kill anyone is just that – Charles Manson did not physically kill a person. If anything, he was a convincer and not a killer.

MANSON – MURDERER OR INSPIRATION?

Whilst the role that Charles Manson played in the Tate / LaBianca murders has been heavily debated, Charles Manson was formally charged with murder and conspiracy whilst the actual murders that took place were carried out by the ‘family’ at his instruction.

It’s a very common misconception, perhaps due to the media and fascination surrounding the figure, that Charles Manson is a serial killer and mass murderer but by DEFINITION he does not fight the description

In essence, Manson’s followers were acting on his commands. The cult-like nature of these commands most definitely came into place after Manson told his followers what to do, when to do it and how.

Ultimately, to say he was ‘not guilty’ of the murders comes down to technicality. There was a misrepresentation in the Manson convictions as in it was argued Manson was such an inspirational figure that the girls who essentially worshipped him were brainwashed into obeying his orders, making him as guilty as the family.

However, the trial of the Manson Family murderers showed that the Manson followers were not psychologically unstable – other than the obvious distraught nature that they’d be imprisoned as killers – but that they knew exactly what they were doing and they understood the repercussions of their actions.

If Charles Manson were to stand trial in today’s age, it would most likely be advised to the justice system that Manson’s long-term history of schizophrenia and paranoid delusional disorder (PDD) would qualify him for an insanity verdict, to which Charles Manson would most-likely be incarcerated at a facility for Mentally Unstable Criminals.

Now, this article isn’t intending to glorify or justify the murders linked to Manson’s name, but there are many discrepancies that have distorted the facts of Manson’s actions and influence over the shocking murders that took place.

History shows that torture has frequently failed to force those who “would rather die than submit” or “would rather die than feel more pain” to reveal evidence or significant information about the subject they were accused of suppressing.

In the middle ages, torture forced many to confess to the accusations thrown by churches or the government. How many innocent members of the public were tortured into acknowledging that they were witches or werewolves?

According to studies over the past decade: a person who has a hot iron forced onto their chest is actually likely to say anything — factual or not – to end the pain.

In 1988, a CIA official testified before a Senate intelligence committee claiming "Physical abuse or other degrading treatment was rejected, not only because it is wrong, but because it has historically proven to be ineffective"

There have been many so-called “non-lethal” methods of torture in the past with religious torture involving forcing faith-filled persons to listen to “dark music” that often features Satanic lyrics or meanings such as songs by Slayer and Cradle of Filth.

So in a world that tries to abide by “innocent until proven guilty” and “rights for all humans – whether criminal, concealing information or not”; Is torture an effective way to protect others?

Whilst this may sound rich coming from a website that published trivial details based on the alleged murderer and rapist Adrian Bayley, Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’ alleged shooting of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has held him the victim of what is best described as a media circus.

Whilst I wouldn’t say that this should be preventable or prohibited – as the way of the world and technology has brought us to this – the one-sided arguments spread across the mainstream media has given the impression that no man is innocent until proven guilty. Soon, that is likely to be a term disproven by the courts after years of letting journalists attend court hearings whilst sitting on their phones tweeting about the events and providing a biased stream of live commentary.

Usually when the mainstream media provides the details AGAINST somebody, it allows the unthinking majority to stand up and condemn the suspect. After all, the Dictionary.com definition of suspect is “to believe to be guilty, false, counterfeit, undesirable, defective, bad, etc., with little or no proof: to suspect a person of murder.”

You don’t need to make up your mind for something that doesn’t concern you if the tabloids have already ‘convicted’.

After a four-day bail hearing, Oscar Pistorius was granted bail and he will return to court to face premeditated murder charges on the 4th of June, 2013.

Whilst it is very unfortunate to say; violence, murder, rape and theft aren’t entirely uncommon in South Africa. When Anders Breivik was being trialled for the Utoya Island massacre; it was interesting for multiple reasons but one of the most shocking things for the media was the rather pleasant and peaceful past that Norway has had with crimes as big as murders. Sadly, it’s the opposite with a country like South Africa.

If Oscar wasn’t a celebrity, would this case be of interest to the worldwide audiences? How much of this fascination with the case has to do with the fact that he isn’t just an Olympian – he’s a disabled Olympian?

It’s safe to say that the above reasons have now given the incentive of the media and the tuned-in world to play jury duty and to place this case as one of the ‘few murders’ that seem to happen every decade. Amazing, because clearly there are never any non-celebrities that meet the same tragic circumstances.

The UK has officially joined the handful of countries enabling Gay Marriage to be officially recognised after much debate between religious and conservative groups.

The Marriage Bill – often referred to as the Same Sex Couples Bill – will enable same-sex couples to marry in both civil and religious ceremonies.

Couples who have previously entered into civil partnerships can now translate their relationship into a government-recognised marriage.

There have been multiple comments throughout the debate with Roger Gale even calling the bill ‘Orwellian’ but Prime Minister David Cameron stands strong behind the bill claiming it will make the UK stronger.
